The name of the airport is named after the former Turkish prime minister Adnan Menderes honoring him for his services. The airport itself is not an older facility in comparison to other airports. It was built in September 2006 and equipped with modern technology to provide comfort to the passengers. Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport happens to be the fourth busiest airport of Turkey and is the hub for Pegasus Airline, Izair, Sun Express, and Turkish Airlines. 

The traffic at the airport has increased over the years and it hovers to around 6 million passengers annually. Currently, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is also undergoing the expansions which will further increase the passenger traffic for the coming years.

Terminal Information

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is one of the main international airports in the Izmir region hosting both international and domestic flights. The airport mainly consists of two terminals namely; international and domestic ones with diverse amenities to offer.

International Terminal - The international terminal connects Izmir to 50 destinations across the world. It is also linked to the railway services connecting it to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport Train Station. Moreover, both domestic and international terminals are connected through walkways having two levels. 

Domestic Terminal - Izmir Adnan Menderes domestic terminal is the busiest domestic runway within the country. It is the main hub for Pegasus, Izair, Sun Express, and Turkish Airlines. The terminal is 200,000 square meters and is located on the left side of Izmir Airport. This terminal also has two levels for arrival and departures.
